Pre-Wedding or engagement photo shoot
In the Ireland and all over the continent in the past ten to fifteen years or so, it has become popular to book pre-wedding photo session (also called engagement photo shoot) a few months or weeks before your wedding. Often the title “engagement shoot” gets presented with the same questions – “We are already engaged, why do we need an engagement shoot ? so let me explain the big benefits to having a pre-wedding shoot, main aim is to get to know your photographer and they can get to know you as a couple. You can spend a little bit of time in a low-pressure situation overcoming your fears of getting photographed, another benefit is you will receive a selection of romantic love story photographs, months before your wedding adding to yours as couple love story. It is entirely the couple’s choice to opt in or out of having a pre-wedding , but I’d recommend it, especially if you’re a bit nervous about being in front of the camera. Short photo session with your wedding photographer approximately three to six months or more before your wedding. It's great time for me 2 to find out about you as a couple. You will also find out about the photographer's shooting style how I work in regards to taking photos so that you are not surprised on wedding day. As a photographer, I get asked a lot if it is worth having a pre-wedding photoshoot or an engagement shoot as they are quite often referred to and the answer is always Yes.
An engagement shoot gives you a chance to celebrate this short time that you are engaged. I always say you should treat your wedding as a whole planning process culminating on one day – not just about the one day itself. Celebrate every chance and enjoy all the little wedding planning wins.
Having an engagement shoot allows you to remember this very short, but precious time together spent looking forward to your wedding day. To remember how you felt, the excitement, the nerves, the love! So if you are unsure as to whether or not you should have an engagement shoot, if the budget allows I think it is one of the best things you can do together as a couple in the run-up to the wedding day.
